Air India has unveiled the next chapter of its brand platform, ‘There is an Air About India’, ahead of the Asian Games, featuring young cricketer Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in a digital film focusedon the role of collective support in an athlete’s journey.
First launched in 2025, ‘There is an Air About India’ focused on the confidence, ambition and momentum associated with a changing India. The latest chapter shifts the focus to the people who support individuals as they pursue their ambitions, including parents, coaches, teammates, mentors and fans.
The campaign’s soundtrack carries the refrain ‘Together We Fly’, reflecting its central theme that sporting achievements are supported by a wider community. The film follows Sooryavanshi’s journey from his early years to his emergence as a young cricketing talent, while also featuring athletes and moments from Indian sport.
The film highlights the role of Sooryavanshi’s father, along with coaches, mentors, teammates and fans, in his journey. It also references the contribution of families, coaches, support staff and communities to athletes’ careers.
Air India is among the early major Indian brands to partner with Sooryavanshi as part of the campaign.
The film was conceptualised and produced by Air India in partnership with creative agency McCann. It features an Indian fusion rap soundtrack combining contemporary rhythms with Indian musical influences.
The campaign also draws a parallel between collective support in sport and Air India’s ongoing transformation since its return to the Tata Group in 2022. The airline has been investing in new aircraft, customer experience, operations, aviation infrastructure and talent.
Air India has ordered 600 new aircraft and is undertaking a US$400 million retrofit programme for its legacy fleet. The airline said the retrofit of its narrowbody aircraft has been completed, with five aircraft returning to service following refurbishment. It has also inducted four new Boeing 787-9 aircraft.
As part of its aviation training and infrastructure initiatives, Air India has established an aviation training academy where 21 full-flight simulators for Airbus and Boeing aircraft are being installed. A flying school in Amravati, Maharashtra, along with an MRO facility and aircraft maintenance engineering training school in Bengaluru, are also being operationalised.
The latest chapter of ‘There is an Air About India’ positions the stories of athletes and the people around them as a reflection of the broader theme of collective effort, with the campaign running ahead of India’s participation in the Asian Games.
