Digital payments platform airpay has launched its first-ever public brand campaign, ‘Invisible’, as it marks 14 years of operations across India, the UAE, Tanzania and Zambia.
The film moves away from conventional payments advertising centred on speed, convenience and seamless transactions. Instead, it builds its narrative around an insight that payments are often noticed most when they fail, positioning airpay’s ability to remain in the background as a measure of its reliability.
The campaign follows everyday moments where payments need to work without becoming a source of anxiety. An international traveller checks out in their home currency, a mother pays school fees between a virtual meeting and managing her children, and a boutique owner receives her daily settlement without having to follow up.
The film then shifts focus from these seemingly routine interactions to the infrastructure and people working behind them, before highlighting airpay’s scale across its four markets.
“When we started, our priority was to build a business that earned trust through what it delivered, rather than how loudly it spoke about itself. Over the years, we’ve stayed focused on building and scaling that foundation across markets, and that approach has served us well. This campaign is an opportunity to share a little more of that journey with the people and businesses who have been part of it, and to mark an important chapter in where airpay is today,” said Kunal Jhunjhunwala, Founder & CEO, airpay.
The campaign has been conceptualised and created by integrated creative and digital agency ting, which has previously worked with brands including Bosch, US Polo, Arrow, Lauritz Knudsen and MAC Cosmetics.
“The interesting part of this brief was that we were working with a business that has spent years deliberately staying behind the scenes. We wanted audiences to recognise themselves in the film first and discover airpay along the way. That led us to build the story around a very ordinary human reaction, and then gradually reveal the scale of the infrastructure and people working behind,” said Aadil Mehta, Partner, ting.
‘Invisible’ premiered on YouTube and will roll out across OTT platforms and airpay’s four operating markets.
