Visage Lines Personal Care, the parent company of Bombay Shaving Company, in a hearing, told the Delhi High Court on Thursday, September 25, 2025 that it will delete an Instagram reel that Philips claims makes false and negative remarks about its 'OneBlade' trimmer.
The statement was made before Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora during a case filed by Philips. Visage Lines argued that its ad was not negative, but agreed to remove the reel after the Court said it would issue an interim order if they didn’t.
Talking to IMPACT, a senior spokesperson from Philips India, said "At Philips, protecting consumer trust is central to everything we do. Our customers rely on us for safe, high-quality, and innovative solutions - and we take that responsibility very seriously. When we saw disparaging claims being made in a social media reel by Bombay Shaving Company, we moved the Delhi High Court to address the issue. Following our action, the reel has since been taken down. This outcome underlines an important principle: competition is healthy, but it must be fair. Misleading narratives do not serve consumers or the industry. Philips will continue to safeguard the integrity of our brand and our products so that consumer choices are guided by facts, not misinformation."
Senior Advocate Akhil Sibal, representing Philips, said the reel promoted Bombay Shaving Company’s “OmniBlade” trimmer using false and misleading claims.
The reel showcased that OmniBlade was 'cut-free,' could trim, shave, and style, and cost half the price of Philips’ OneBlade. He argued these claims were untrue, aimed at putting down Philips’ product, and could mislead customers.
