Chennai Super Kings has partnered with Snapchat to introduce an augmented reality-led fan experience at ‘ROAR 2026’, the franchise’s pre-IPL event held at MA Chidambaram Stadium.
The collaboration marked Snapchat’s first in-stadium Snap Camera integration at a cricket event, allowing real-time, interactive content to be displayed across stadium LED screens. The activation engaged more than 25,000 fans in attendance, blending live sport with digital overlays and user participation.
“At CSK, our fans are at the core of everything we do, and Roar 2026 was a celebration of that deep connection. We are always exploring ways to elevate the fan experience, both in-stadium and beyond, and Snapchat was a strong strategic partner in that journey. Through innovations like 'Snap Camera' integration, we were able to create immersive and authentic touchpoints for our audience. The addition of AR brought a new layer of interactivity, making fans feel closer to the action. The stadium roar was a testament to how successful this partnership really was. We are proud of being the first IPL team to execute this tech in the stadium.” said KS Viswanathan, Managing Director of Chennai Super Kings.
The initiative extended beyond the venue. Snapchat activated its creator network through the 'SnapStarSquad,' enabling real-time storytelling and fan-led content during the event. It also introduced a 'Snap Map' integration, allowing live, user-generated content from the event to be surfaced—another first for an IPL franchise.
In addition, behind-the-scenes content was published exclusively on CSK’s official Snapchat profile, offering fans a closer look at the team and event proceedings.
