Danone India, through its flagship adult nutrition brand Protinex, has announced the findings of a large-scale Phase-4 post-marketing survey evaluating the self-reported benefits of Protinex Diabetes Care (PDC) among adults living with Type-2 diabetes in India.
The survey, published in the South-Eastern European Journal of Public Health (SEEJPH, 2025), included 500 participants across six cities, with 480 completing the study. All participants were identified by healthcare professionals as individuals with Type-2 diabetes and inadequate dietary protein and fibre intake. As part of the study, participants consumed Protinex Diabetes Care daily for one month alongside their prescribed medical care.
According to the findings, 82% of participants perceived better blood sugar management, 92.5% reported higher energy levels, 78.8% experienced improved physical strength, and 98.8% said they would recommend the product to others. These outcomes point to the potential role of diabetes-specific protein supplements (DSPS) in bridging nutritional gaps prevalent in traditional Indian diets.
Dr. Priya Karkera, Head – Medical Affairs and Nutrition Science, Danone India, said, “At Danone, we are committed to advancing evidence-based nutrition to improve health outcomes. The encouraging feedback from this real-world survey highlights the role that targeted nutrition—rich in quality protein, soluble fibre, and essential vitamins—can play in supporting adults with diabetes alongside their prescribed medical care and lifestyle changes. We believe in empowering individuals and healthcare professionals with practical solutions to help manage chronic conditions like diabetes.”
The survey also reflected a high level of product acceptance, with 99.4% of participants reporting that they liked its taste and 92.5% finding it easy to incorporate into their daily routine—an important factor for long-term adherence.
While these results suggest a positive role for nutrition supplements in diabetes care, the study authors have noted the need for further controlled clinical trials to validate these findings.
Protinex Diabetes Care is formulated with high-quality milk and soy protein, Nutriose® soluble fibre, and essential vitamins and minerals. It is also clinically proven to have a low glycaemic index, making it suitable for inclusion in diabetes management plans under medical supervision.
