HDFC SKY has launched ‘The King of Trades’, a video series exploring Rajkot’s long-standing relationship with trade and investing and how its market culture has evolved across generations.
The series opens with Episode 1, ‘The History of Rajkot’, which looks at the city’s trading ecosystem, from the gold and silver counters of Soni Bazaar to the commodity mandis of Gondal. It features conversations with veteran traders who have witnessed the transition in Rajkot’s markets and investing practices.
The episode traces the movement from traditional forms of trading, including physical share certificates and established trading communities, to digital platforms that have made investing accessible through smartphones.
Rajkot’s commercial and trading culture provides the setting for the series to examine how market participation has evolved beyond India’s established financial centres. While technology has changed the way people access markets, the series looks at the continuity of trading practices and attitudes across generations.
Through The King of Trades, HDFC SKY uses the experiences of Rajkot’s traders and business communities to document this transition and explore how technology is shaping the next phase of investing.
