Medanta has unveiled Jaanta Hai Medanta, a movement dedicated to raising awareness and driving action against cancer.
Jaanta Hai Medanta represents a deep understanding of every battle against cancer, reminding every cancer patient and their families that they are not fighting alone: because everything that they are going through, Jaanta Hai Medanta.
The larger aim of the movement is to raise awareness about early detection of cancer, helping communities spark conversations, break stigma, and offer hope where it is needed the most.
The first focus begins with breast cancer awareness, encouraging women to take charge of their health through monthly self-examinations and regular screenings with Banno Ki Rasm, a short film that reimagines the self-breast exam as a tradition of strength, self-love, and care passed down from one generation to the next and urges women to make the self-breast exam a monthly ritual once females reach adulthood.
Set against the backdrop of a joyous evening, the short film shows a group of women introducing a teenager in their midst to a new tradition - the monthly breast self-examination as a way to safeguard her health as a ritual of self-care.
Commenting on the need for early detection, Kanchan Kaur, Senior Director, Breast Cancer, Cancer Care, Medanta Gurugram, said, “Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in India and accounts for a significant share of cancer-related deaths, largely because over half of the cases are diagnosed at advanced stages. This is often the result of delays—both in recognizing symptoms and in starting treatment—which reduces the chances of successful outcomes, making early detection critical. Awareness, monthly self-examination, and timely medical consultation can save countless lives. Through Jaanta Hai Medanta and initiatives like Banno Ki Rasam, we want to normalise conversations around breast health and empower women to adopt self-check as a routine practice with confidence.”
Sharing his perspective on the movement, Naresh Trehan, Chairman and Managing Director, Medanta, said, “At Medanta, healthcare goes beyond treatment—it is about awareness, empathy, and prevention. Jaanta Hai Medanta is our commitment to stand with communities in their fight against cancer, to break stigma, and to empower every individual to take charge of their health. Through this initiative, we aim to transform awareness into action, creating a culture where early detection and self-care become a way of life.”
Medanta will also be rolling out a first-of-its-kind initiative called Aao Dekho Seekho Kiosks: interactive spaces where women can learn, watch, and practice self-breast examinations on simulators under expert guidance. These kiosks are a welcoming space where women learn why regular checks matter, with simple messaging and life-sized visual aids where participants, guided by nursing team, can learn the correct technique of the self-breast exam in a private and respectful environment, breaking barriers around breast health and promoting early detection.
