Paramount Skydance CEO David Ellison has announced on X that the combined company created through the acquisition of Warner Bros Discovery will be called Skydance.
The company is expected to change its legal name to Skydance Corporation on October 6, according to a regulatory filing. Its Class B shares are also expected to move from Nasdaq to the New York Stock Exchange, where they will trade under the ticker 'SKYD.'
Ellison wrote on X, “What once was the peak, is now just the beginning. Paramount and Warner Bros. shaped over a century of culture. By combining them, we aren't rewriting history — we're equipping these iconic studios with a more powerful engine. Together, we are Skydance: a creative-first home for bold, quality storytelling."

Ellison said the new corporate identity is intended to give the combined company a distinct identity without diminishing the established identities of Paramount and Warner Bros.
Explaining the choice of the new name, he added, "We chose this name for a few important reasons. First and foremost, as we bring Paramount and Warner Bros. together, we wanted to preserve what has made each of these studios iconic. Both have distinct identities, extraordinary legacies and brands that have resonated with audiences for generations. We never wanted a new corporate identity to diminish, alter or overshadow either one. Instead, we wanted a name that would give the combined company an identity of its own while allowing Paramount and Warner Bros. — and all our extraordinary brands — to remain in the spotlight."
The merger will bring together film, television, news and streaming operations, including franchises such as Mission: Impossible, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, Top Gun, Yellowstone and the DC Universe. Its television and streaming portfolio will include CBS, CNN, Paramount+, HBO Max, MTV, TBS, Comedy Central, Food Network and Nickelodeon.
The deal is expected to close on October 6 after a US court order cleared Paramount Skydance to proceed with its $110 billion acquisition of Warner Bros Discovery. The transaction cleared a key legal hurdle after a judge approved a September 21 settlement between Paramount and a California-led group of 12 states that had challenged the deal. The states had argued that the transaction could create a media company capable of raising prices for film and television content.
Ellison has appointed Mattel CEO Ynon Kreiz as co-CEO. Kreiz is expected to oversee day-to-day operations and the integration of the businesses, while Ellison focuses on creative direction and overall strategy.
