Paytm (One97 Communications Limited), India's leading payments and financial services company, has introduced India's first solar-powered soundbox for merchants. This innovative device harnesses solar energy to ensure uninterrupted power for small shop owners, even in areas with limited access to electricity.
The Paytm Solar Soundbox is designed to be an affordable solution, ideal for small businesses in rural and remote regions. Powered by a solar panel on top, it auto-charges with sunlight, requiring just 2-3 hours of exposure for a full day of use. Even without sunlight, the device’s electricity-powered battery lasts up to 10 days. It features a Paytm QR code for UPI and Rupay Credit Card payments.
"With this Made in India device, we continue to pioneer transformative solutions that shape the future of payments in the country," said Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Founder & CEO of Paytm.
Shri Pankaj Chaudhary, Minister of State for Finance, commented, “The launch of this affordable Paytm Solar Soundbox is a commendable step towards empowering small businesses, especially those in remote areas.”
The soundbox includes a powerful 3-watt speaker for clear payment notifications, even in noisy environments, and supports 11 languages. It is designed to aid small merchants like hawkers, cart vendors, and street sellers, promoting financial inclusion and green energy solutions.
This new device reflects Paytm’s ongoing commitment to supporting India’s merchant community, driving sustainable practices, and advancing financial inclusion.
