The State Bank of India (SBI) has appointed Ravi Ranjan as its new Managing Director (MD), effective December 15, 2025.
Ranjan takes over after the previous managing director completed their term. His appointment has been approved by the Government of India, and he has assumed charge immediately.
Before this role, Ranjan was serving as Deputy Managing Director at SBI. As managing director, he will oversee key functions such as risk management, compliance, and stressed asset resolution, which are critical to the bank’s operations.
Ravi Ranjan has over three decades of experience with SBI. He joined the bank in 1991 and has held several senior positions across different verticals, including corporate banking and global markets.
Under the State Bank of India Act, 1955, he will hold the post until his retirement in September 2028.
