Hyundai Motor India Limited has announced a leadership transition with Tarun Garg taking charge as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer from January 1, 2026. The development follows the resignation of Unsoo Kim, who stepped down from his role as Managing Director on December 31, 2025, the company said in a regulatory filing.
The appointment was approved by Hyundai Motor India’s Board of Directors at its meeting held on October 14, when Garg was serving as a Whole-time Director of the company.
Garg brings over two decades of experience in the Indian automobile industry. Prior to joining Hyundai Motor India, he held several senior leadership roles at Maruti Suzuki India, including National Sales Head and Executive Director – Marketing, Logistics, Parts and Accessories. His background spans sales, marketing, and operational functions within the automotive sector.
Unsoo Kim, who joined Hyundai Motor Company, South Korea, in 1991, concludes a career spanning more than 30 years with the Hyundai Motor Group. Over this period, he held multiple leadership positions across global markets, with responsibilities covering business planning, strategy, and operations.
Before taking on leadership responsibilities at Hyundai Motor India, Kim served as Executive Vice President – Global Operations at Hyundai Motor Company. He had also previously worked with Hyundai Motor India for four years, including a stint as Executive Director of the Corporate Planning Division between 2014 and 2015.
The leadership change comes as Hyundai Motor India prepares for its next phase under new management from the beginning of 2026.
