Prashanth Menon, the head of Tesla’s India operations, has stepped down from his role as the electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer prepares to enter the Indian market, according to media reports. Menon, a Tesla veteran of nine years, also resigned as chairman of the board for Tesla India.
His departure comes at a critical juncture for the Elon Musk-led company, which is working to establish a presence in what is now the world’s third-largest automobile market. There has been no announcement regarding a replacement for Menon.
According to reports, Tesla’s China team will now be responsible for overseeing the company’s operations in India. This move underscores Tesla’s strategy to leverage existing regional expertise as it navigates the complexities of launching in a new market.
In a separate development, a Reuters report revealed that Tesla signed a lease in March for its first showroom in Mumbai, marking a significant step forward in the company's long-anticipated entry into India.
