The Sports Women (TSW), an initiative by Capri Sports, in association with Hockey India, has launched ‘Wear Your Scars’, a campaign anchored to the 16th Women’s FIH Hockey World Cup.
The campaign challenges conventional expectations around how women and women’s bodies are expected to look and behave by putting the physical marks of elite sport, including turf burns, stitches and scars, at the centre of its visual storytelling.
Rather than concealing or retouching these marks, the campaign presents them as part of the athletes’ identities and sporting journeys. The scars and injuries are styled almost like jewellery, creating a visual contrast between fashion and the physicality of professional hockey.
Through high-fashion imagery, ‘Wear Your Scars’ brings together sport, beauty and fashion to examine how women’s bodies are represented, while reframing the marks left by competition as symbols of participation, resilience and achievement.
The campaign uses the experiences and physical realities of India’s hockey players to build a broader conversation around the pressure on women to conform to particular standards of appearance, while highlighting the bodies that compete, endure and perform at the highest level.
