Titan Company Limited has announced its succession plan for the position of Managing Director. The current MD, C.K. Venkataraman, will retire on 31 December 2025 upon reaching the Tata Group’s superannuation age limit.
Venkataraman, fondly known as Venkat, has been with Titan since 1990 and took over as Managing Director on 1 October 2019.
Ajoy Chawla, currently serving as Chief Executive Officer of Titan’s Jewellery Division, will take over as Managing Director from 1 January 2026.
Chawla, a mechanical engineering graduate from VJTI Mumbai and a postgraduate from IIM-Calcutta, began his career with Tata Administrative Services in 1990 and joined Titan’s finance department in 1991. Over the years, he has held key roles in the Watches Division and led various strategic initiatives including the Fragrances and Taneira businesses.
He became the CEO of the Jewellery Division in October 2019. Under his leadership, the division has seen a 2.5-fold increase in both sales and profit.
The process to induct Chawla onto the Board of Directors and formalise his appointment as Managing Director will be undertaken in due course, subject to shareholder approval. Titan stated that a decision on his successor in the Jewellery Division will be made at a later date.
C.K. Venkataraman commented, "On behalf of the entire Titan team, I welcome Ajoy to lead Titan in its next phase of innovation and growth. With his strong customer obsession, people orientation, partnering impulse and focus on creating value, Ajoy is well qualified to shepherd Titan towards even greater glory and scale."
