Uber, one of India’s leading ride-hailing services, has joined hands with Nike as the official ride partner for the inaugural After Dark Tour (ADT) in Mumbai — a pioneering night-time 10K run celebrating female runners and the broader running community.
This partnership reinforces Uber’s mission to improve access to safe, dependable transport, particularly for women navigating cities after dark. Designed to foster confidence and community, Nike’s ADT is expected to be the largest 10K run of its kind in India.
The collaboration stems from a key insight: while more women are embracing night-time activities for work, fitness, and leisure, safety remains a significant concern. A recent Uber survey revealed that 85% of women have skipped or cancelled night plans due to transportation or safety concerns.
Built on the need for trusted mobility, Uber aims to ensure attendees have reliable transport to and from the ADT venue — including post-race festivities.
“As the official ride partner, Uber is helping make the night feel accessible again - by supporting safe, reliable mobility that meets women where they are,” said Shiva Shailendran, Director, Consumer & Growth, Uber India and South Asia.
79% of respondents said they feel safer using ride-hailing apps like Uber at night, and among existing Uber users, 94% said such services enable spontaneous night-time decisions.
Tarundeep Singh, GM Nike India, added, “The After Dark Tour Mumbai is a race designed for female runners — it’s about connection, celebration and confidence. The partnership with Uber is aiming to help women runners feel confident getting to and from the race. Together, we’re working to create a race experience that brings women to the forefront and fosters a sense of belonging and connection.”
Among the safety features women value most on Uber: live GPS tracking (70.8%), emergency assistance, and verified driver profiles. These innovations continue to make Uber the preferred choice for safe night-time travel.
Beyond fitness and nightlife, Uber’s impact is also economic. According to an Oxford Economics study commissioned by the company, 4 in 10 working women credited ride-hailing with helping them join the workforce, while 75% cited safety as their top reason for using these services. The study also suggests improved mobility could boost female workforce participation by over 6% by 2028 in India’s top five cities.
With Nike’s ADT set to light up Mumbai, Uber’s involvement underscores how accessible, safe transport plays a crucial role in enabling women to move freely — and confidently — after dark.
