WOW Skin Science, in collaboration with Lucky Chan, hosted Matcha Matsuri at South Forum Mall, Bengaluru, bringing together beauty, food, and cultural experiences to mark the launch of the brand’s Japanese Matcha Mud Face Wash. The product extends WOW’s growing line of Japanese-inspired skincare, led by the Yuzu Face Wash as its flagship offering.
The cross-collaboration brought together WOW’s ingredient-led storytelling, Lucky Chan’s contemporary Japanese flavours, and Superbrew’s craft matcha, creating an event that connected J-beauty trends with culinary and experiential formats. Guests entered through a bilingual Japanese gate and were welcomed with themed drinks and a cherry blossom–themed photo booth featuring fans, lanterns, and ingredient props.
Attendees explored three interaction-led zones. Rice Water Zone, a fast-paced Rice Chopstick Challenge awarding Fermented Rice Water Face Wash minis and Lucky Chan vouchers. Yuzu Zone, a showcase of WOW’s Yuzu range, coupled with a Yuzu Shots Challenge and citrus-led mocktails. Matcha Zone (with Superbrew), freshly whisked and iced matcha served by Superbrew alongside the introduction of WOW’s Matcha Mud Face Wash, ending with a team-based Matcha Relay Challenge.
A gamified gifting mechanic encouraged participation, with each completed challenge adding items to a WOW pouch, creating natural content-led touchpoints. Alongside the activities, guests sampled Lucky Chan’s Japanese-inspired menu, including dumplings, maki rolls, and mocktails. The evening concluded with WOW hampers for all creators, with additional rewards for challenge winners.
“Japanese ingredients and rituals are rapidly reshaping global beauty, and we’re seeing Indian consumers embrace this shift with remarkable curiosity. Matcha Matsuri allowed us to bring these traditions to life — not just as a product story, but as an immersive cultural experience.
With the launch of our Japanese Matcha Mud Face Wash, we’re reaffirming WOW Skin Science’s commitment to ingredient-led, science-backed formulations designed for Indian skin and climate,” said Manish Chowdhary, Co-Founder, WOW Skin Science.
“Matcha Matsuri aligned perfectly with our vision at Lucky Chan to bring modern Japanese culture to India in a way that feels authentic, elevated, and memorable,” said Amit Ahuja, Founder, Lucky Chan.
“Our role at Matcha Matsuri was to bring authentic matcha to life. Serving freshly whisked and iced matcha allowed guests to experience the ingredient in its pure form while discovering WOW’s matcha-led skincare,” added Amareen Khuraana, Founder, Superbrew.
