At a defining moment in its evolution, Godrej Industries Group has unveiled a new purpose and brand identity, aligning its legacy with a bold roadmap for the future. Announced at its Mumbai headquarters, the move signals a strategic consolidation of vision across its diverse businesses spanning FMCG, real estate, financial services, agriculture and chemicals.
At the heart of this transformation is a unifying purpose: ‘Crafting tomorrow since 1897.’ More than a tagline, it encapsulates a long-standing philosophy of blending innovation with responsibility, rooted in the ideals of founder Ardeshir Godrej. The articulation marks less of a pivot and more of a sharpened clarity on what the Group has always stood for.
Pirojsha Godrej, Chairperson Designate, Godrej Industries Group said, "'Crafting tomorrow since 1897’ reflects the belief that values and results must go hand in hand. As we scale, this philosophy will continue to guide how we build businesses that are both successful and responsible.” The timing is deliberate. With a 129-year legacy behind it and a restructured Group identity just two years in the making, Godrej is setting its sights on an ambitious ₹5,00,000 crore market capitalisation by 2031. The roadmap includes sustained double-digit growth, expansion to five listed entities, and a sharper focus on return metrics across businesses.
Yet, the bigger shift lies in perception.
“One of our biggest learnings is that while we do a lot, it isn’t always externally understood,” noted Tanya Dubash, Executive Director and Chief Brand Officer, Godrej Industries. “The role of marketing now is not just to build, but to express who we are, more clearly and more consistently.”
That clarity extends to the Group’s refreshed brand identity, developed by its in-house design team DISCO. Moving beyond a visual update, the system introduces a multi-sensory brand language, from bespoke typography and sonic cues to even a signature fragrance, designed to create cohesion across touchpoints.
Importantly, this is not a consumer-facing overhaul. The iconic Godrej signature remains intact across product brands, while the new identity functions as a corporate layer aimed at professional stakeholders, talent and internal alignment.

“This is about cohesiveness and clarity,” Dubash explained. “It strengthens the Godrej brand while allowing each business to stay true to its role.”
The Group is also leaning into future-facing capabilities, with AI already embedded across functions from marketing to financial services. However, leadership is clear about its role.
“AI is a powerful tool, but brand-building remains deeply human,” said Darshan Gandhi, Global Head – Design, Godrej Consumer Products; Group Head – DISCO, Godrej Industries. “Empathy, intuition and craft are things technology can support, but not replace.”
As Godrej doubles down on sustainability, inclusivity and long-term value creation, its ambitions stretch beyond financial metrics. With net-zero goals by 2035, a planet-positive supply chain by 2047, and a strong push on diversity and inclusion, the Group is positioning itself as both a business leader and a societal stakeholder.
In many ways, the refresh is less about reinvention and more about intent made visible—a legacy brand, now speaking in a sharper, more contemporary voice; ready to scale without losing its core.
