After reports of her exit began circulating, when IMPACT Magazine reached out to Babita Baruah, she clarified that she is not moving on from her current role as CEO of VML India.
Speaking to IMPACT, Baruah said, “This is absolute maliciousness, and untrue. I vehemently deny this.”
Baruah took charge on 01 March, 2024, following WPP’s integration of Wunderman Thompson and VMLY&R to form VML. Her appointment came as part of the global restructuring that brought together creative, data, and technology capabilities under a unified agency model.
Her continuation in the role comes amid broader leadership changes within WPP’s creative business.
Baruah started as a management trainee at Wunderman Thompson (JWT) in 1996, later holding key roles including Managing Partner at GTB India and Executive Director at VMLY&R Thailand.
As of now, on 7th May, 2026 there is no word on any movement or Baruah's exit from the CEO role at VML India.
