Even The Great Khali needs an upgrade sometimes. In WLDD’s latest campaign for Amazon’s Great Indian Festival, the former wrestler finds himself dealing with ageing belongings, things that keep breaking and a home that no longer quite matches his ‘Great’ persona.
Created by WLDD, the culture-led, social-first media tech company, the campaign builds its narrative around a simple question: what happens when The Great Khali no longer feels so great?
The Great Indian Festival provides the answer, with deals that allow Khali to replace and upgrade his worn-out belongings. As his home gets a refresh, so does his spirit, bringing ‘The Great’ Khali back to form.
Commenting on the campaign, Arihant Jain, CEO, WLDD, said, “We take being silly quite seriously at WLDD. It helps us understand what people enjoy watching. During a busy sale season, brands have to earn people’s attention. Sometimes, a simple idea and a good laugh do the job brilliantly.”
Shiv Nair, Sr. Creative Director at WLDD, said, “We started with this very funny image in our heads: this enormous man looking sad in an empty house. Then we realised his fighting name gave us the story we needed. If The Great Khali wasn’t feeling great, the Great Indian Festival could bring that greatness back. We wanted to keep that simplicity and let the humour do its job.”
