DSP Mutual Fund has launched a new digital campaign that challenges a common assumption around small-cap investing: while many investors focus on when to enter, the real test is whether they can remain invested when markets become volatile.
Built on the insight that understanding market volatility is very different from experiencing it, the campaign uses data-led creatives and a dedicated landing page to highlight the behavioural challenges that often shape long-term investment outcomes. These include sharp market corrections, extended recovery periods and the difficulty of staying invested during uncertain times.
Instead of focusing on the return potential of small-cap funds, the campaign draws attention to the realities investors need to consider before committing capital. Using historical index data, DSP illustrates how small-cap markets can witness significant declines, why recoveries can take time and how consistently timing market entry and exit remains difficult.
At the heart of the campaign is the idea that getting into small caps is often easier than staying invested through periods that test patience, conviction and risk appetite. Through messaging such as “Courage gets you into small caps. Resilience keeps you there” and “Everyone wants in on small caps. Nobody asks what it takes to stay in,” DSP encourages investors to assess their preparedness before investing.
Commenting on the campaign, Manish Rathi, Head – Direct and Institutional Marketing, DSP Mutual Fund, said, “Most campaigns are designed to get people to invest. This one is designed to make them pause first. We wanted investors to confront the realities of small-cap investing before they invest, not after markets become difficult. Understanding what one is signing up for can help investors stay committed through periods of volatility.”
The campaign is being rolled out across digital platforms and aims to encourage investors to align investment decisions with their risk appetite while seeking professional financial advice where required.
