Loca Loka, the globally awarded tequila label co-founded by entrepreneur Sree Harsha Vadlamudi, actor Rana Daggubati, and music composer Anirudh Ravichander, has officially entered the Indian market, marking its foray into the country’s fast-expanding premium spirits segment. After launching internationally in late 2024 across the US and Southeast Asia, the brand now introduces its Blanco and Reposado variants to Indian consumers.
Envisioned in India and produced in Jalisco, Mexico, Loca Loka blends Mexican distillation heritage with Indian cultural cues—as reflected in its name, merging Loca (Spanish for “crazy”) and Loka (Sanskrit for “world”). Since debuting globally, the brand has earned recognition at leading spirits competitions and built a presence in duty-free and selected international markets as part of its strategy to establish global credentials ahead of its India launch. The domestic rollout now shifts focus toward premium retail and on-trade channels in key urban cities.
To mark its India entry, the brand hosted a series of invite-only tastings and conversations with all three founders, where guests sampled curated serves that highlighted the Blanco’s crisp agave-forward profile and the Reposado’s mellow, oak-aged complexity. The celebrations continued with a sit-down dinner in Delhi and an immersive party in Mumbai featuring sound, light, and interactive elements crafted in collaboration with technologists and mixologists—reflecting the brand’s vibrant visual and experiential identity.
Both variants—winners at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2025, New York International Spirits Competition, Miami World Spirits Competition, and WSWA Wine & Spirits Tasting Competition—will be available first in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad, along with major duty-free stores. The launch leverages the momentum of India’s fast-growing tequila market, projected to exceed $76 million in 2025.
“Loca Loka is rooted in craft—from sustainable agave sourcing to barrel philosophy and global placements. India’s shift toward premium spirits makes this the right moment to enter with a measured, quality-first distribution strategy,” said Sree Harsha Vadlamudi, co-founder and CEO.
Co-founder, Rana Daggubati added, “This brand is built on storytelling. It’s more than a bottle—it’s a cultural crossover. Loca Loka celebrates Mexico’s terroir while embracing India’s energy and rhythm. The launch itself becomes a moving narrative.”
“The first sip shows what thoughtful distillation and maturation can achieve. Both the Blanco and Reposado bring clarity and layered expression, working equally well neat or in cocktails. And a fun detail—the yeasts respond beautifully to music. This batch fermented to a playlist of my own. That might explain a few interesting notes,” said Anirudh Ravichander, co-founder.
Produced in the highlands of Jalisco under the expertise of third-generation distiller Willy Bañuelos Ramírez, the tequila reflects meticulous craftsmanship. Present at the India launch, Willy said, “Bringing Loca Loka to India feels like a natural step. Indian consumers appreciate purity, flavour, and craft—values at the core of our 100% agave tequila. This crossover between Mexican heritage and India’s evolving palate is a chapter we’re proud to shape.”
The introduction comes at a time when India’s tequila category is accelerating rapidly. The market, valued at USD 600.1 million in 2024, is projected to reach USD 1.68 billion by 2033 at a 12.1% CAGR, with agave-based spirits recording 36% volume growth in 2024.
Loca Loka’s India strategy includes targeted partnerships with premium bars, hotels, and duty-free retail, supported by curated tastings and city-wide activations through 2026. The brand positions itself as a premium, culturally expressive tequila rooted in craft, provenance, and a high-energy lifestyle ethos.
