PVR INOX, India’s leading multiplex chain, is set to celebrate the centenary of Raj Kapoor with the Raj Kapoor Film Festival. Known as the "Greatest Showman of Indian Cinema," Raj Kapoor’s enduring influence on Indian cinema is unparalleled. This tribute, spanning from 13th to 15th December 2024, will be held in 101 cinemas across 34 cities, offering one of the most extensive retrospectives dedicated to the filmmaker’s iconic works.
Raj Kapoor’s contribution to Indian cinema is immeasurable, and the festival gives audiences a chance to revisit his unforgettable films on the big screen. From his directorial debut Aag (1948) to his revolutionary work Bobby (1973) and the poignant Ram Teri Ganga Maili (1985), Kapoor’s films have stood the test of time, influencing generations of filmmakers and viewers.
The curated selection includes masterpieces like Awaara (1951), Shree 420 (1955), Sangam (1964), and Mera Naam Joker (1970). These remastered classics will allow audiences to relive the grandeur of his filmmaking, whether they are long-time fans or new to his work.
