Vikram Solar has renewed its partnership with Kolkata Knight Riders for a second consecutive year, continuing its ‘Sixes for Solar’ initiative that links on-field performance to clean energy adoption.
Under the campaign, every six hit by KKR during the season contributes towards solarising homes, positioning cricket moments as a trigger for tangible sustainability outcomes. Vikram Solar will continue as the team’s clean energy advocate as part of the collaboration.
The second edition builds on last year’s effort, with a sharper focus on addressing practical challenges such as rising electricity costs, unreliable power supply and dependence on diesel generators. The company said the initiative is aimed at driving wider solar adoption while delivering both environmental and social impact.
To support the campaign, Vikram Solar has rolled out a television commercial featuring KKR players Rinku Singh, Rachin Ravindra and Finn Allen. The film situates solar energy within everyday scenarios, including households facing power cuts and businesses dealing with high electricity costs, using cricket as a narrative device to make the solution more relatable.
Commenting on the initiative, Gyanesh Chaudhary, Chairman & Managing Director, Vikram Solar, said, “Last year, ‘Sixes for Solar’ was about starting a conversation around what solar energy could mean for ordinary households. This year, we want to go further: every six should translate into a rooftop solarised, a generator switched off, and a power cut that doesn’t happen. Cricket reaches every corner of this country. If we can use that energy to make clean power feel less like a distant promise and more like something already underway, that is exactly where we want to be.”
Venky Mysore, CEO of Kolkata Knight Riders, said: “Cricket has always been about more than just the game for us at KKR, it’s about creating impact beyond the boundaries. As we continue our partnership with Vikram Solar for the second year, ‘Sixes for Solar’ is a strong example of that shared vision, where every six contributes to powering homes and creating meaningful change.”
