Sri M. B. Patil, Hon’ble Minister for Large & Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development, Government of Karnataka, inaugurated ‘ActiLearn’, an interactive educational book introduced under ITC YiPPee!’s Better World CSR programme. The launch took place at the Core Science Activity Centre in Vijayapura, supported by the Agastya International Foundation.
The ActiLearn Plastic Smart Workbook is designed to familiarise students with plastic waste and recycling through activity-based learning. The initiative forms part of YiPPee! Better World’s efforts to promote awareness of plastic waste management among schoolchildren.
Around 100 schools and 100 teachers from Vijayapura and North Karnataka attended the event, during which 30,000 workbooks were distributed. Training sessions for teachers were also conducted. Key attendees included:

Speaking at the launch, Sri M. B. Patil said, “It is vital to educate our youth early about the consequences of plastic waste and the importance of recycling. Initiatives like this provides an engaging platform for children to understand sustainability in a fun, practical way. I am happy that, together we can nurture a generation that will lead Karnataka and India towards a cleaner and greener future.”

Better World program is committed to equipping children with the knowledge and motivation to be responsible citizens for our planet. Through initiatives like ActiLearn educational books, we are planting the seeds for a sustainable tomorrow.”
The one-day event included activities for students and teachers based on the principles of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
According to ITC, the YiPPee! Better World programme has reached students across India with information on plastic waste management and sustainability. The company expects the programme to involve 3.5 million children by the end of 2025–26.
