Which industry folks are secretly built for reality TV?

At Goafest 2026, IMPACT asked advertising, marketing and media professionals to imagine the industry in a reality TV universe, and decide who would survive the chaos, challenges and drama

Which industry folks are secretly built for reality TV?

There is a version of the advertising and media industry that resembles the thrill and chaos of reality television–quick decisions, high-stakes presentations, shifting expectations and strong opinions. Now imagine the same energy distilled into actual reality shows. Who would survive the dangers of Khatron Ke Khiladi? Or the Bigg Boss drama? And who would steal the spotlight with their hidden talent in shows like Masterchef and Dance India Dance? IMPACT turned to industry leaders at Goafest 2026 to find out. What followed was candid opinions mixed with humour and insight.

Ramesh Narayan

Founder, Canco Advertising

“Srinivasan K Swamy, President, AAAI, is the most likely to survive a reality show like Bigg Boss. This is because 80 per cent of the contestants would be intimidated by him and would want to eliminate him from the competition. He will manage to charm the rest 20 per cent for sure.”

Satyabrata Das
Chief Alliance Officer, Laqshya Media Group

“The person most likely to survive a reality show like Khatron Ke Khiladi would be Rahul Kanwal, CEO and Editor-in-Chief, NDTV. He has taken up NDTV’s responsibility, which is a huge task for him, and he is going to survive that. It is a mammoth task to get it to the number one position.”

Nikhil Kumar
Chief Growth and Marketing Officer - India and Emerging Markets, Affle

“I think Niraj Ruparel, Creative Technology Lead, WPP and WPP Media, would be able to survive a reality show like Masterchef. He would be able to survive any reality show for that matter. He has a wonderful personality by default and he will outshine. He won’t just survive it; he will win it.”

Darshana Shah
Marketer

“I think Sam Balsara, Chairman, Madison World, would be the best fit to survive a reality show like Bigg Boss. He has survived decades of changes in the industry. The environment is changing and the consumer is changing, but Sam Balsara is still out there reigning strong.

If you ask me for Khatron Ke Khiladi, I would say Ajay Kakar, Head - Corporate Branding, Adani Group. He has worked with large conglomerates such as Reliance, Aditya Birla, and now Adani. He would be the best contestant for that show.”

Niloufer Dundh
Organising Committee, Goafest 2026

“Rana Barua, Group CEO - India, South East and North Asia, Havas, would survive a reality show like Dance India Dance. He makes us all dance, so I presume he is very good at dancing. All the best Rana!”
