As Doraemon the Movie: New Nobita and the Castle of the Undersea Devil heads for theatres on October 2, the beloved blue character is making his latest India release a marketing event of its own.
Presented in India by TV Asahi and released theatrically in association with PVR INOX Pictures, the film is being backed by a nationwide 360° campaign led by Black White Orange (BWO), with strategic consulting from Happening 365 Synergies.
The campaign spans out-of-home, digital, radio, experiential, school outreach and retail, bringing Doraemon into everyday consumer touchpoints ahead of the release. Branded buses and auto-rickshaws are taking the character to the streets, while a dedicated school contact programme connects the film with its core audience of children and families.
The campaign also includes an association with Kidzania, bringing Doraemon’s world into an immersive edutainment experience. Digital, radio, experiential and retail activations further build anticipation for the theatrical release.
Speaking about the film, Tetsuo Yajima, Director of Doraemon the Movie: New Nobita and the Castle of the Undersea Devil, said: “Hello, everyone in India. I’m Tetsuo Yajima, the director. I’m truly delighted to bring Doraemon the Movie: New Nobita and the Castle of the Undersea Devil to audiences in India. 10,928 meters - the deepest point in the ocean ever reached by humankind. Only 13 people have actually gone there; apparently fewer than the number of people who have travelled to space. And beyond that unknown world lies something even further beyond. What kinds of creatures might live there? What breathtaking sights might await us? Doesn’t it make you excited just thinking about it? Let’s join Doraemon and his friends on an adventure into a deep-sea world that no one has ever seen before! I look forward to seeing you at the theatre.”
The film’s India campaign is also drawing on Doraemon’s long-standing connection with Indian audiences. With the character having been part of childhoods across generations, the campaign combines nostalgia for longtime fans with a new cinematic experience for younger audiences.
The film marks the 45th theatrical feature in the Doraemon franchise. Its India premiere was held in Mumbai on September 26, bringing together the film’s producers, influencers, media personalities, children and families ahead of the nationwide release.
The campaign is supported by partners including Black White Orange (BWO), Fanthology, Econama, KidZania, RED FM, ANA India, Nitori Japan and Yakult Danone India, spanning licensing, marketing, digital, outdoor, edutainment, radio and consumer products.
Doraemon the Movie: New Nobita and the Castle of the Undersea Devil releases across India on October 2, 2026, in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, including select 4DX theatres.
