MakeMyTrip marks 25 years with a nostalgic film, highlighting India’s travel evolution and the company’s role in shaping it

MakeMyTrip Celebrates 25 Years of Transforming Travel in India

MakeMyTrip, India’s leading online travel company, celebrates 25 years of being #IndiaKaTravelPartner with a heartfelt brand film featuring its long-time ambassadors, Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh. The milestone marks a reflection on the evolution of travel in India and the significant role MakeMyTrip has played in it.

Founded in April 2000, at a time when online travel bookings were met with scepticism due to low internet penetration and concerns around digital transactions, MakeMyTrip set out to empower Indian travellers by making trip planning and booking accessible through technology.

As digital adoption grew and consumer preferences shifted, travel in India underwent a transformation. Once seen as a luxury, travel has now become an essential part of life, with many allocating a significant portion of their disposable income to it. Long weekends, luxury vacations, road trips driven by improved infrastructure, and the ease of international travel have redefined how Indians explore. Today, travellers are more confident, spontaneous, and eager to create lasting memories—and MakeMyTrip has been central to this shift.

From flights, hotels, and holiday packages to alternative accommodations, rail and bus ticketing, taxis, forex services, travel insurance, and visa assistance, MakeMyTrip has grown into a full-stack travel super-app. It processes over 230 transactions every minute across its three platforms—MakeMyTrip, Goibibo, and redBus—and boasts more than 80 million lifetime customers and over 490 million app downloads.

To celebrate its 25-year milestone, the company has launched an emotional film that takes viewers on a nostalgic journey. The film opens with Alia and Ranveer flipping through an old photo album, remembering childhood vacations—those simpler times when families arrived at hotels without prior bookings. It then transitions through the years, from the rise of cyber cafés for online bookings to the introduction of mobile apps that made travel planning easier. Throughout, MakeMyTrip is portrayed as a constant companion in this evolution, making travel more accessible, convenient, and enjoyable.

The film ends with a playful glimpse of the future, imagining a 25-year-old trip to Mars—of course, booked through MakeMyTrip.
