Air India is reportedly considering Nipun Aggarwal and Vinod Kannan as the leading candidates for the role of Chief Executive Officer, following the resignation of Campbell Wilson.
According to reports, Aggarwal, who currently serves as Air India’s Chief Commercial Officer, is viewed as a strong internal contender, having played a key role in the airline’s transformation programme since its acquisition by the Tata Group.
Kannan, the former Chief Executive Officer of Vistara, also remains a prominent candidate, bringing extensive leadership experience and having overseen the carrier ahead of its merger with Air India in 2024.
Discussions within Tata Sons are understood to be ongoing, with no final decision yet announced. Reports suggest that Aggarwal has the backing of Chairman N. Chandrasekaran.
The search for a new chief executive intensified after Wilson confirmed his departure in April, marking a significant leadership transition for the airline as it continues its transformation and integration efforts.
