Sony Pictures Networks India acquires media rights for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games

Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) has secured the exclusive media rights for the 2026 Commonwealth Games, bringing the quadrennial multi-sport event back to its network.

The Games will be held in Glasgow, Scotland, from 23 July to 2 August 2026 and will be broadcast live on Sony Sports Network channels, with streaming available on Sony LIV across the Indian subcontinent.

India enters the competition after finishing fourth in the medal standings at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games, with a haul of 61 medals, including 22 gold.

Rajesh Kaul, Chief Revenue Officer and Business Head – Sports and International, Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) said, "The Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games further strengthens Sony Sports Network's position as the destination for premium live sport in India. The Commonwealth Games occupies a unique place in India's sporting landscape, with every edition inspiring an extraordinary performance. As India looks to build on its success at Birmingham 2022, Glasgow 2026 promises compelling competition and unforgettable sporting moments. We are committed to delivering a world-class broadcast through comprehensive, multilingual coverage and expert storytelling, ensuring fans don't miss a single moment of India's medal pursuit. With the nation's sporting ambitions continuing to grow and momentum building around the prospect of hosting a future Commonwealth Games, Glasgow 2026 represents another significant milestone in India's sporting journey."

Katie Sadleir, Chief Executive of Commonwealth Sport, said, "We're delighted to continue our partnership with Sony Pictures Networks India as we look ahead to Glasgow 2026. Sony's coverage will help millions of fans across India follow the athletes, stories and moments that make the Commonwealth Games so special. As Glasgow 2026 marks the beginning of a new chapter for Commonwealth Sport, excitement is already building towards the Centenary Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad in 2030. We're proud to be working with Sony to bring the Commonwealth Games closer to audiences in one of our most important sporting nations."

The Glasgow edition will feature a streamlined programme comprising 10 sports, including athletics, swimming, boxing, weightlifting, artistic gymnastics and 3x3 basketball, alongside a record integrated Para sport programme with 47 medal events across six sports.

SPNI said its coverage will include expert analysis, multilingual commentary and comprehensive programming from the opening ceremony through to the conclusion of the Games.
