Ajay Mehta has stepped down from his position as Head — Content & Creative Services at WPP Media, bringing an end to his more than eleven-year stint with the company. Before this, he also held the role of Chief Content Officer at Mindshare India.
Mehta is credited with building the branded-content vertical at Mindshare and GroupM (now WPP Media), turning content partnerships into a strategic differentiator for the network. Under his stewardship, this capability grew into a robust model connecting brands with publishers, creators, platforms, and entertainment formats — delivering both cultural impact and measurable business results.
In a career spanning two decades in marketing communications and strategy, Mehta has worked with leading agencies including Mindshare, Ogilvy and Publicis India, driving large-scale content and brand partnership initiatives for clients across FMCG, telecom, retail, finance, automotive and technology sectors.
At Mindshare, he spent nearly nine years in senior leadership roles first as Vice-President and then Senior Vice-President where he led content strategy and brand partnerships, including work for marquee clients such as Hindustan Unilever.
During his time at GroupM/WPP Media, Mehta’s leadership and creative vision earned him domestic and international recognition including a win at the Cannes Glass Lions Grand Prix, spotlighting India’s media-driven creative storytelling on the global stage.
His departure comes at a time when the media industry is shifting rapidly: agencies are increasingly being judged on their content strength, cross-platform agility and executional efficiency rather than just traditional media buying power. As WPP Media reconfigures its internal leadership structure, Mehta leaves behind a legacy of having institutionalised content as a core strategic lever within the network.
