Amazon has introduced its rapid delivery service, Amazon Now, in Mumbai, extending its presence beyond Bengaluru and Delhi. The service allows customers to order daily essentials, with deliveries expected in approximately 10 minutes.
To support the service, Amazon has established over 100 micro-fulfilment centres across the three cities. These local hubs are intended to keep commonly ordered items in stock and process orders quickly. The company has stated plans to expand this network by adding more centres before the end of the year.
According to Samir Kumar, Vice President and Country Manager, Amazon India, “Demand from early adopters in Bengaluru has been growing steadily, leading to the decision to expand operations into Mumbai.”
Amazon Now offers products including groceries, personal care items, and accessories, with delivery timelines ranging from minutes to same-day or next-day, depending on the item.
The service is being introduced in phases across specific neighbourhoods in Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai. Availability is shown via a dedicated icon on the Amazon app. The company has also said that expansion into other cities is being considered.
