Amazon has ranked first in TRA’s Brand Trust Report (BTR) 2026, moving up 11 places from 12th position last year to lead the list of India’s 1,000 most trusted brands.
The report, now in its 15th edition, places Dell in second position after it held the top ranking for six consecutive years. Honda (Motorcycle Manufacturer) rose two positions to third place, while LG (Televisions) moved up 13 places to fourth. Titan (Watches) ranked fifth, climbing two places from the previous report.
Sony (Televisions) ranked sixth after dropping two positions. LG (Refrigerators) rose three places to seventh, and LG (Washing Machines) moved up 30 ranks to eighth. Vivo (Mobile Phones) entered the top 10 at ninth position after rising 48 ranks, while Flipkart (Online Retailer – Diversified) moved up 24 ranks to tenth.
The report also highlighted regional patterns in brand trust. Mumbai recorded the highest concentration of top-ranked brands across financial services, manufacturing and automobile sectors. Bengaluru followed with a strong presence of technology and digital ecosystem brands.
Indian brands accounted for 27 entries in the top 50. The United States had six brands in the list, including Amazon at number one. China also had six brands, led by Vivo at ninth and OnePlus at 32nd after moving up 103 ranks. South Korea had five brands, with LG appearing in the top 10 in three categories: televisions (fourth), refrigerators (seventh) and washing machines (eighth).
Category rankings also changed this year. Google Pay moved ahead of PhonePe to lead the digital payments category after rising 88 ranks. Daikin replaced Carrier in the air conditioner category after climbing 39 ranks to 31st place, while Usha Fans moved ahead of Crompton in the fans category at 30th position. OnePlus entered the top 50 at 32nd position after rising 103 ranks, and Muthoot Finance moved up 67 ranks to 44th place.
N. Chandramouli, CEO, TRA Research said, “Trust leadership is never permanent and has to be earned every day through consistent consumer-centric actions. The dramatic shift at the top this year, with Amazon surging 11 ranks to dethrone Dell and Vivo leaping 48 positions to break into the Top 10, demonstrates how dynamic brand trust truly is. While 324 brands improved their standing, 349 saw declines and 327 either entered fresh or exited entirely - evidence that trust can be built or lost depending on brand experience, communication, and perceived authenticity. This year we see the largest brand concentrations in Televisions with 25 entries, Refrigerators with 18, and Air Conditioners with 17 - categories where technology and after-sales reliability are reshaping consumer expectations. As AI and digital ecosystems become central to brand engagement, the winners will be those who balance innovation with transparency, ensuring that technological advancement never comes at the cost of human trust.”
The report found consumer electronics to be the most competitive category, with 81 brands across televisions, refrigerators, air conditioners and washing machines. When combined with technology and digital categories, including mobile phones, laptops and personal computers, these segments accounted for 15.2% of the top 1,000 brands.
Among other brands in the top 20, Whirlpool (Refrigerators) moved up 50 ranks to 13th position, boAt (Audio Equipments) rose 25 ranks to 17th, Samsung (Refrigerators) improved by 17 ranks to 18th, and Kent (Water Purifiers) climbed 25 ranks to 19th. Honda Activa rose 29 ranks to 21st position.
Some brands declined in the rankings.
