Mastercard adds comedy to India concert series with Vir Das and Zakir Khan

Mastercard has expanded its India concert series into stand-up comedy and live music, bringing performers such as Vir Das, Zakir Khan and Papon into the next phase of its multi-city entertainment platform.

The latest edition marks a shift for the series, which was earlier centred largely around music concerts featuring artists such as Enrique Iglesias, AR Rahman and Sunidhi Chauhan. With comedy now joining music, Mastercard is widening the format to cater to changing entertainment preferences and younger audiences.

The series, curated with Tribe Vibe and EVA Live, will see Vir Das perform four shows across two days in New Delhi at Yashobhoomi on May 9 and 10.

Zakir Khan will headline nine shows in Mumbai at the Dome, SVP Stadium. Confirmed dates include June 12, 13, 14, 19 and 20, with more shows expected to be announced. Interest around Zakir Khan’s live shows has remained strong, with his recent tours selling across multiple cities and large-format venues. ([Moneycontrol][1])

Meanwhile, Papon will lead the music leg of the series across six cities. His tour begins in Chandigarh on 16 May, followed by Ahmedabad on 29 May, Lucknow on 30 May, Bengaluru on 06 June, Hyderabad on 07 June and Indore on 14 June.

Mastercard cardholders will receive early access to ticket sales and entry to lounges at venues as part of the programme.

Beyond live entertainment, the company said the series will continue to support students from underserved communities through its partnership with Learning Links Foundation. Nearly 90 first-generation learners from cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Jaipur and Chandigarh have so far attended these events, often for the first time.

“Live entertainment is a powerful expression of culture and connection. As we continue to evolve this platform, our focus remains on creating experiences that are not only memorable for audiences, but also meaningful for the communities we serve. This is how we think about doing well by doing good—building engagement while widening access to opportunity,” said Gautam Aggarwal, President, India & South Asia, Mastercard.

Tickets for the announced shows are available on www.priceless.com/music.
