Swiggy, India's premier on-demand convenience platform, has announced the appointment of Amitesh Jha as Chief Executive Officer of its expanding quick commerce division, Swiggy Instamart, effective 4 September. Amitesh Jha, an e-commerce veteran with over 20 years of experience, will take over the role from Phani Kishan, who will transition to a broader organisational role overseeing Swiggy’s Central Growth unit. Phani Kishan will continue to work closely with and report to Swiggy Group CEO Sriharsha Majety.

Prior to joining Swiggy Instamart, Amitesh Jha was a key figure at Flipkart, where he played a pivotal role in popularising e-commerce in India. Joining Flipkart during its early ventures into electronics, Jha was instrumental in driving growth and implementing industry-first practices. He also led Flipkart’s supply chain operations, scaling the company’s logistics and contributing to its overall success. Most recently, Jha spearheaded Flipkart’s growth business, focusing on sustaining long-term expansion. Jha is a Chemical Engineering graduate from IIT Delhi and holds an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad.
Jha’s appointment marks a significant step in Swiggy Instamart’s journey, as the company continues to expand its presence and redefine the quick commerce landscape in India.
