Swiggy Ltd has announced the launch of Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations across Swiggy Food, Instamart and Dineout, allowing users to place orders and make reservations through AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude and Google Gemini.
The integration enables users to order groceries, place food orders and book restaurant tables using conversational prompts within supported AI tools. Instamart is the first quick-commerce platform to integrate MCP, giving users access to more than 40,000 products through natural language requests.
MCP is an open-source framework that allows AI systems to connect with live data and external services. Through Swiggy’s MCP servers, AI agents can search options, build carts, apply offers, confirm addresses, place orders and track deliveries without users navigating multiple app screens.
Users can, for instance, ask an AI assistant to order ingredients for a specific recipe or select a restaurant based on preferences. The system can also check availability at restaurants and complete table bookings in a single interaction.
Madhusudhan Rao, Chief Technology Officer, Swiggy, said, “India’s convenience needs are deeply contextual, shaped by everyday moments, family routines, personal preferences, and time constraints. Swiggy has always focused on solving for convenience at scale, and conversational commerce takes that a step further by allowing users to simply express what they want, when they want it, whether it is to book a table at their favourite restaurant or order drinks and snacks for a match-viewing party. By bringing MCP to quick commerce, food delivery, and dining out, we’re removing friction from daily decisions and enabling a level of ease, personalisation, and joy that makes on-demand convenience feel effortless.”
According to the company, the MCP integration is intended to support future AI-led use cases such as meal planning, dietary preferences and occasion-based shopping, while maintaining user privacy and security. Users can ask an AI assistant to discover recipes, build shopping lists, compare products, or search menus and apply offers through a single conversational flow.
To connect the service, users can add a custom connector within their AI assistant’s settings and use the relevant Swiggy MCP URLs for Instamart, Dineout or Food. Technical specifications are available through Swiggy’s public GitHub repository.
