What if your name could unlock better deals? And what if you had a Tatkaal agent on speed dial to grab them before they disappeared?
Flipkart explores both ideas in two new films for its Big Billion Days campaign, conceptualised by McCann India, part of Omnicom Advertising India.
Built around this year’s promise, ‘Yahaan Sabka Luck Badlega’, the campaign takes two very different routes to the sale: luck in ‘Luck By Naam’ and speed in ‘Tatkaal Seva’.
In ‘Luck By Naam’, Flipkart taps into the familiar belief that a person’s name can influence their luck, bringing celebrity numerologist Sanjay B Jumaani into the mix. The campaign takes viewers into Jumaani’s world of Chaldean numerology, where names become numbers and even an extra letter can supposedly alter a person’s fortunes.
The idea extends beyond the film through LuckByNaam.com, where users can enter their full name and discover a personalised ‘Luck Score’ based on Jumaani’s Chaldean numerology method. A higher score unlocks more Flipkart SuperCoins.
The second film, ‘Tatkaal Seva’, swaps fortune for speed. Flipkart brings in an India-specific cultural reference — the Tatkaal agent — to dramatise the lengths shoppers might go to for high-demand deals at opening prices.
The film follows a fictional Tatkaal agent who discovers his calling in helping shoppers secure deals that seem almost impossible to get. Like the real-world Tatkaal agents who inspired the character, Flipkart’s version directs shoppers to a secret microsite where they can reserve a deal ahead of Big Billion Days and place their orders when the sale goes live.
Together, the two films give Flipkart’s broader ‘Yahaan Sabka Luck Badlega’ promise two distinct interpretations — one rooted in the idea of personal fortune, and the other in the race to get the deal before everyone else.
