The one similarity between business and travel is exploration. Sometimes exploration of new places results in new business opportunities and conversely, a business trip provides an opportunity to discover some really beautiful places. That’s why this correlation is considered quite healthy and profitable. For me, travel is not just a part of my profession – it is the passion of a 30-year-old technopreneur that led to me launching my own travel website.

About a year ago, I visited one of the world’s most famous places for religion, art, culture, fashion and football – Italy. This country steeped in ancient European history is also the cradle of one of the greatest human civilizations. When I landed in Rome, the historic capital of Italy famous for St Peter’s Basilica, Castel Sant’Angelo, the Colosseum, Ponte Sant’Angelo, the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain and a lot more, anticipation made me feverish.

Soulful Resonance of the Eternal City: It was not the Leaning Tower that made me lean towards Italy, but the popular English adage ‘Rome wasn’t built in a day’ that made me inquisitive about the Eternal City. Being an engineer and explorer of cultures, I have a natural tendency towards social and civic developments, and when I went through the structural and cultural beauty of the city, I couldn’t resist saluting human creativity and ingenuity.

My hotel was at a walking distance from the Colosseum, Termini Station, and Basilica di San Giovanni. In front of the hotel was the Temple of Minerva. On opening the room’s window, I could inhale the smell of classical Rome in the nineteenth century. The climate was pleasant, the sky full of stars, and people on the street were warm and friendly, rewarding every smile with a broader grin.

Charisma of the World’s Fashion Capital: I spent three full days roaming around the famous sights of the city. After a great cultural expedition in Rome, the next destination on my itinerary was Milan, the fashion capital of the world and the second richest city in Europe. Various tourist sites such as Porta Venezia, the Public Gardens and the Piazza Della Republica were not far from my hotel. Various restaurants and eateries were also in close vicinity, and I did not miss a chance to taste the scrumptious pizzas while visiting Porta Nuova, Milan Cathedral, Piazza Gae Aulenti, Bosco Verticale, Sforza Castle and Arch of Peace. I also explored the city’s most ravishing fashion markets like Piazza del Duomo, the Quadrilatero Della Moda and Corso Venezia. It was an enthralling shopping experience, and I was euphoric to experience the energy of this mesmerizing city.

Verdict of the Traveller: After travelling to Bangkok, Belgium, Dubai, France, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Mauritius, Netherlands and Singapore, the visit to Italy was totally different and unforgettable. The architectural beauty was incredible, and so was the taste of Ai Marmi and Da Remo pizzas. Finally, when I reached New Delhi after my week-long Italy sojourn, I was pleased to reinstate that Rome wasn’t built in a day!
